I live in Slovakia (Central Europe) in a small, historical town called Kremnica. Since March this year I have been working at the “Slovak Centre of Europen Integration (SCEI)” office in Kremnica. One of the primary functions of our institute is to provide access to a digital technology for the general public and teach people, how to use digital technology to create their own desires and ideas before the eyes of the whole world.
In May this year, Georg Flachbart came to Kremnica – he is a partner of SCEI project and he told me about two great young people from Canada (guess, who is it? :)) and about TakingITGlobal. He was exciting about TIG and after spending a lot of time on TIG web site, a get excited too. And so, we have started to think about partnership between SCEI and TIG. Last month Georg was in Canada and he met with Jennifer, Michael, Derek. From their meeting arise following.
Jennifer Corriero, Michael Furdyk, Derek Martin and Martin Kuplens-Ewart will arrive to Slovakia in October (if everything runs well). I am looking forward to meet them.
They will speak at international conference “From a global village to a global net’ in Bratislava – capital of Slovakia. Together we will open TakingITGlobal Slovakia office in Kremnica and organize IT workshop at SCEI in Kremnica.
Thanks my activities at the SCEI office I have learned a lot about organizing, cooperating, promoting and together working. SCEI project already has an office and this office will be TIG office as well. The time will show, what can I offer to other TIG members and I hope I can learn a lot through TikingITGlobal.
And why did I decide to get involved?
A wise man said, that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. I do believe, that SCEI is my first step and TIG is my next step on a long journey. But I hope, that this journey will bring better, more exciting and more global life for all of us.
