Here is a little introduction to what I have done with my inspiration and interest so far: The year of 2003 I went with an organization called PeaceQuest International on a studytrip to USA; Washington, New York and Philadelphia visiting various UN-institutions, Peace organizations, other NGO's, international media to learn and discuss issues of peace, international cooperation and the relations between the US and EU. This journey triggered my curiosity and was the start of a still ongoing interest in international issues. That same autumn I took part in creating a local branch to the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society in my home town, Karlstad. This commitment lasted until I completed school three years later. In 2006 I went to Barcelona, Spain, to deepen my knowledge in spanish and work as a trainee at Cruz Roja, The red Cross. A wonderful experience that has really encouraged me to embrace other opportunities that might come my way with curiosity and commitment. I spent 2007 working in our beautiful neighbour-country Norway. Anxious to get away and do something "for real" I applied to be part of a campaign initiated by the Swedish NGO The Latin America Groups, focusing on international trade and it´s relation to food-sovereignty, and specifically the effects of a European Assosiation Agreement for the farmers- sector in Honduras. In the beginning of 2008 we started the preparatory course and March -July I spent in Honduras as a trainee at an organization working with these issues, COCOCH -Consejo Coordinador de Organizaciones Campesinas de Honduras. In the autumn of 2008 I began my studies in Political Science at the university of Uppsala in Sweden, at a programme called Politices Kandidatprogram. Here I have become a member of the Uppsala Association for International Affairs and also the global international students organization -AIESEC and their project "Social Entrepreneurship". During this spring I will take part in two different courses outside my normal studies. The first arranged by the swedish association for youth organizations LSU - "Leadership for Sustainable Engagement". The second is called "Communication for Social Change". My hope is to profit well from these courses and advance my knowledge and experience in these areas. With hopes of hearing from you sometime soon, Sincerely Marie Persson
