Born and educated in South Africa with a degree in Business Science, specializing in Marketing and Economics, Margie has worked extensively with organizations throughout the world in building the capacity of their microenterprise, self-sustainability and livelihood projects. Margie launched the Community Assistance Program through AIESEC South Africa, building the capacity of young people in different parts of South Africa to mentor and assist microenterpreneurs to run their businesses and provide access to market assistance. As part of the South African based NGOs, the Triple Trust Organization and Institute for Development Services, Margie researched effective microenterprise training strategies, developed appropriate curricula, and assisted organizations in implementing these throughout South Africa. Margie expanded the work of the organization by developing the international scope of the program as Training and Curriculum Manager, managing partnerships with, amongst others, the ILO and GTZ through to grassroots NGOs in different parts of the world. As co-founder of Making Cents, Inc., a Washington-DC based consulting firm, specializing in building the capacity of organizations operating in the microenterprise, entrepreneurship and microfinance sector through the delivery of train-the-trainer programs and distribution of experiential training curricula, Margie worked with educational and development organizations to facilitate the integration of entrepreneurship and microfinance training into their job creation strategies worldwide. Margie has also worked extensively with program managers, board members and managers to assist in organizational development and capacity building strategies through facilitating strategic processes and organizational development meetings. Most recently Margie founded EcoVentures International, a non-profit research, education and training organization based in Washington DC, to train and support young leaders to understand Sustainable Development issues through the creation of environmentally focused microenterprises. Margie is also an Associate with the QED Group LLC, a consulting firm in Washington DC, managing the Training Support Program for USAID Microenterprise Division's Accelerated Microenterprise Assistance Program (AMAP).
