About Me |
Every one is going to agree on this point; the future of our world is in the hands of youth. In ours, but also in those of younger students who will follow. One of my major concerns is that I do not think that these future adults are going to have the tools necessary to build a bright future. Are they going to possess enough knowledge and be strong enough to help our world grow?
This concern starts from the fact that I don't think the new school reform is appropriate. I do not like this new way of transmitting knowledge.
In my opinion, too much teamwork does not help the brain develop properly. I think this kind of learning works better when you are older because it's good to have many opinions to develop an idea, but when you are young, I do not think it works very well.
The way the new reform assess students does not reassure me neither. For example, in high school, they have math tests extending over three days, which is not a way to see if the students have understand! However, I do believe that this reform is way worse in elementary school. Indeed, since they cannot repeat one year, many students graduate from those schools and they don't even know how to count and write well. Tell me what kind of students they are going to be in university, it is impossible!
I do not trust at all this educational reform. That is mainly why I want to become an elementary teacher. I want to transmit to these young students the foundations for learning so they are going to be able to do well in their future life.
Finally, the reform has been created for the weak students so they would be able to make their way through their studies. But for now, it yielded no positive results. In fact, the opposite occurred. Instead of having some strong students and a little bit of weak one, this reform is only bringing some weak students with not enough tools.
