About Me |
Lars is an experienced arts educator, entrepreneur and artist living in Vermont. Founder of an artist-run gallery and education center in Washington, DC and a former high school teacher, Lars cut his “arts educator” teeth as a photography instructor for Shooting Back, the photography program started by former UPI photographer Jim Hubbard. Today, Lars is the founder and coordinator of the Global Peace Tiles Project.
The Peace Tiles project is an inspiring 'movement' of artists, educators, activists - young and old - around the world who are using collage and mixed media to draw out people's stories and share them - through exhibition and exchange. So far, more than 50 self-organized workshops have taken place around the world engaging thousands of young people around issues like HIV/AIDS, the environment, and conflict.
