About Me

KUNKUCHA: - Which means “The dawn of the new beginning” is a community based grass-roots youth organization comprised of youth who have come together with a common objective of providing care and support for orphans,vulnerable children and promoting their living standard through income generating activities. It was founded and registered by the Ministry of Gender, Sports, Culture & Social Services. KYG currently operate in all the administrative districts in the Coast of Kenya and has its office in Mombasa at mkomani on Mombasa/Nyali Road, with aim of sensitization training and educate youth and community leaders about means of intervention in situations of domestic violence. We teach youth and community leaders to take action among their peers, which has resulted in significant transitions within youth communities – moving from a state of silence and denial to a stage of open and free questioning on issues of gender, sexuality, and women’s rights. Kunkucha has also equipped a project to bring community mobilization activities to rural areas in Mombasa. Walking some kilometers to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexuality, drugs abuse and HIV/AIDS and enabling local groups and participating youth to use discussion, street theater, and games to address violence against women in their own communities. We also use theatre for development to address social issues affecting youth. In the north coast region of Kenya, youth face many challenges associated with lack of employment and educational opportunities. Many people live below the poverty line, with special attention given to youth and women. On the account of community needs. Kunkucha has adopted a rights based approach in its programmes with sustainable service delivery alongside creative advocacy within its areas of jurisdiction.

Background:-
Kunkucha youth seek to improve the health of Kenyans. The program is a HIV/AIDS and Drugs intervention that implements activities and provides services that aim at reducing STI ,Drugs Abuse and HIV/AIDS infection among youth aged 10-38 years and offer youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services, we also focus effort to build capacity among various partners, to ensure quality of activities, and also to systematic approach to plan and implement strategy for public awareness and enable use of expanded and integrated service provision and mobilize different segments of society to support sustainable urban development and Scale up to reach populations across the region, monitor, evaluate progress and mobilize resources.
