About Me   About Me
I am an Ohio State Buckeye who relocated to western Pennsylvania. I grew up in German Village – which is part of Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1981.

I earned my BS in Education, with library science certification, from Slippery Rock University, in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and my Master’s of Education, specializing in School Library and Information Technologies, from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. My degrees include coursework in methods of reading and language arts, literacy, and technology integration.

I am entering my eleventh year teaching as a school library media specialist (a.k.a. librarian). I have taught every grade except tenth. I currently teach eleventh and twelfth grade students at Butler Area Senior High School in Butler, Pennsylvania, and serve as our building computer facilitator and library department chair.

My experience as a library media specialist has prepared me for a role as an instructional technology coach/mentor. My field requires working within all areas of the curriculum, requires a working knowledge of standards and benchmarks, and requires frequent integration of instructional technology into pre-existing lessons.

In 2005, I earned state-level Keystone recognition for my integration of technology in student learning via my library research Web page (http://butlershslibrary.com). I am also certified through PBS as an online facilitator for their online professional development program, TeacherLine. This training has also prepared me for a coaching role, because the nature of an online instructor is one of a facilitator/mentor. Developing successful online teaching strategies also includes addressing the multiple learning styles of your students and incorporating multimedia instructional strategies - practices that also carry over into the traditional classroom environment.

I have presented numerous professional development workshops for my district, our local community college, and for regional technology groups on various topics, such as creating electronic research portals, developing Web pages, and teaching with WebQuests.

My husband, Jeff, and I live in Butler with our chocolate lab, Budici (pronounced boo-dee-chee. It was the hubbie’s choice!) and spend most of our free time boating and fishing. I have a daughter, Haley, who graduated from Ohio State University in June, and a son, John Paul.
