I have been teaching since 1991. I started as a middle school ESL and gifted teacher in Coatesville Area SD. Because of my elementary certification, I spent a year as an academic teacher in the Middle School teaching math, reading / language arts and physical science. In 1993, I came to Upper Merion Area School District as a 2nd grade teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 3 years and then got a "promotion" :) to 3rd grade which I have been teaching ever since. I have my masters in reading from Cabrini College and am currently finishing my Instructional Technology Supervisory Certification through Penn State's World Campus. I have been an active member of our district's technology committee for 10 years. My technical skills I have worked in my school district as technology trainer for summer workshops as well as after-school technology trainer in my building. I have been integral in piloting software and hardware and training teachers who receive this equipment through Request for Purchase Grants. Some of the programs/skills I have taught or presented include: * Microsoft Boot Camp (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Digital Storytelling (Microsoft Photo Story) * Producing with PowerPoint (Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint) * Graphic Organizers (Inspiration, Kidspiration, Timeliner) * Creating Projects that Pop--integrating digital video into lessons I am also familiar with MS Movie Maker, Adobe Premier Elements, Adobe Professional, Our district is implementing our CFF grant with MacBooks. While I am quite familiar with iTunes which I have used for podcasts, my ipod etc... I am just familiarizing myself with the Mac iLife software such as Garage Band, iPhoto, and iMovie. I also use digital cameras and camcorders in class with my students. Coaching skills / Experiences In addition to the summer professional development I have done, I completed the University of Pennsylvania Mentor Teacher Academy in 2000. I have trained student teachers almost every semester since. I was on staff at the Keystone Technology Integrator Summit this past summer. While I love working with kids, I enjoy teaching teachers to integrate technology into their instruction and am really looking forward to this opportunity.
