Kiran began working for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS as an intern in June 05 and is now the Project Officer for GYCA out of the Global Youth Action Network. She has extensive work experience working with HIV positive women and AIDS-orphans in Windhoek, Namibia, where she conducted research on the deteriorating basic human rights issues caused by HIV/AIDS that culminated to become her undergraduate thesis. She has always been involved with youth activities related to HIV/AIDS and education in Pakistan, where she has volunteered to teach and counsel. She is also a staunch advocate of human rights and believes in the potential youth have to become the solution of tomorrow.
Kiran graduated with honors from Clark University (USA) with B.A. in International Development Studies, and a concentration in Political Economy. She also studied abroad in Namibia and South Africa for a semester, working at the Catholic AIDS Action; a non-governmental organization in Windhoek. Here she mentored AIDS orphans and formed a Drama Club for them to use plays and skits to advocate HIV/AIDS issues and use that as a tool for fundraising. She was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and speaks Urdu, Hindi and Gujrati fluently.
