 About Me |
Kima Youth Forum (KYF) was established and registered by the Ministry of Culture and Social Services in 2006 as a community based organization through the participatory rural assessment and development by the youth who promote holistic development of the community through sustainable development projects. The group has over twenty (20) registered members. It is located at Kiangai Catholic Parish compound in Kiangai town, along the Karatina-Kerugoya road.
Its main mission is to identify key issues/areas affecting youth such as poverty, unemployment, discrimination, drug abuse; address them and strengthen the capacity of the youth such that they may achieve sustainable development not only for themselves, but for the community. The group wishes also to advocate for the rights of the youth and empower them to be future leaders.
To implement projects that use the local resources to earn income for the members and become self reliant. E.g bull and poultry rearing, macadamia oil, avocado milk shake, soap etc etc. This way, the community will benefit by having ready market for their products such as macadamia, avocado, milk, napier grass etc etc.
To establish a formal training center for computers and other skills leading to employment such as carpentry, mechanics.
To organize forums and youth sports tournaments to sensitize the community on HIV/Aids, substance abuse and other vices. Branded gears will be used.
