I will be volunteering in Costa Rica from December 26th, 2011 to January 15th, 2012 with, Youth Challenge International, a leading global youth development non-profit organization that promotes youth innovation to drive positive change. While in Costa Rica, I will contribute to community-based projects with a focus on health, education and environmental sustainability. I am required to fundraise $2,500 for YCI’s development programs that include costs for administration, in country travel, accommodations, food and medical insurance. I am also responsible for the travel expenses to and from Costa Rica. I am asking for the community and businesses to help me reach my financial goal in order for me to participate in YCI’s Costa Rica’s project this winter. Please help make a difference! For me, the opportunity to volunteer internationally is very inspiring. The experience of learning about another culture is an exciting way for me to enhance my understanding of the world at large, and to learn extensively and firsthand about global issues facing Costa Rican communities. I am presently in my fourth year of Geological engineering program at the University of Saskatchewan. Only just recently, I participated at the IMPACT! Youth Program for Sustainability Leadership conference. This opportunity allowed me to gain leadership, communication and foremost innovative thinking skills in order to initiate change in the aim of creating a more sustainable society. Skills that I plan to contribute during the Youth Challenge International – Costa Rica project. I am dedicated to protect and promote a green and safe environment for all mankind. I love outdoor activities and have a passion for helping others and think this experience will help define who I am. I am beyond excited to be part of a cross-cultural experience while helping youth development in Costa Rica! In closing, I would like to thank everyone who will sponsor me for this wonderful opportunity! By donating you are also part of this movement towards change. Sincerely, Kayla Seguin All donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
