About Me   About Me
ABOUT ME:

I am a man of simple taste and style who love his profession .I was
raised and educated in the oil rich Niger-Delta region of Nigeria, grew
up to find myself in a creative oriented household. Being an “Urhobo”,
my direct encounter with clay through my maternal aunt ( a traditional
potter), resulted in the early discovery of the exciting world of Art.
Before i was seven,i could create native Terracotta pots and miniature
figurines to the admiration of many.
My early education started at Ughelli my native town in Delta State,
from where i became known as an outstanding artist amongst my
contemporaries even before i was seventeen years old. I gained
admission into the famous University of Port-Harcourt Creative Art
School in the early 90’s, where i graduated with an upper honour degree
in visual Arts.
My superlative Talent and enthusiasm in my work earned
me the Deans price award for “Best graduating student” in Creative Arts
Class of 1993-97 amongst others.
I have other renown Urhobo Artists like Bruce Onobrakpeya and Prof. J.
T. Agberia as role models.
I am a member, Society of Nigeria Artists
(SNA) and full time studio artist with gallery/studio in Delta State
NIGERIA.Also showcase my work in my on line gallery @
www.oyorokoart.com
Have held exhibitions both in Nigeria and other West African
Countries. I just rounded up a solo exhibition titled “My Riverine
Odyssey” a collection of seascapes paintings and sculptures of the
Niger-Delta Area of Nigeria.

MY ART:

Art in its entirety is unlimited by way of expression. What I dream,
believe, experience and create as an artwork, is one that has balance
in subject matter, style and form.
For example, It could be pure and
serene, troubling and depressing yet so inspirational and beautiful.
My art drains strenght and depth from the beauty and power of deep-rooted
african traditions and culture especially that of my Niger-Delta
people, but iam by no means limited in my traditionalism.
My art renditions are corrective themes of societal, political decadence of
contemporary and global import. Most importantly, some are
social-cultural and spiritual representations that are meant to be
recorded for posterity and use to foster unity, peace and harmonious
living in our diverse society of different cultural values and
religious inclinations thereby bringing about world peace and a better
appreciation of humanity at large.
