About me
Joel Vengo M., a participant of non-formal youth movements since 1994. He has been very active in youth activities at national as well as international level, where He has made valuable contributions and played a key role in different programmes and projects and which help him to demonstrate the highest level of commitment to youth service.
He was the Secretary General & Executive Director of Congolese Youth Association for Development (NGO CYAD), a national youth NGO based in Democratic Republic of Congo, founded in 2002 and legally recognized or registered to Youth & Sport Ministry.
He was one of 12 Regional Focal Points of 2006, selected from over 150 excellent applications. He was chosen for his significant experience in the field of HIV/AIDS, his display of excellent leadership and for his work with groups most vulnerable to HIV infection. His primary duties include building, in his region, GYCA’s Global Directory of youth HIV/AIDS interventions worldwide and connecting initiatives to each other, to NGOs working locally, to the government, and to the United Nations for support and to create sustainable partnerships. He was assisted by National Coordinators in his region, charged with creating, implementing and monitoring national-level advocacy campaigns and local gatherings in their countries. Hence, He worked closely with others young leaders from Africa and around the world.
In 2005, He have co-founded a National Movement in D.R. Congo to network with community associations and institutions playing critical roles in fighting against HIV/AIDS, which is called “Réseau des Associations Congolaises des Jeunes contre le VIH/SIDA”, as acronym “RACOJ/SIDA” and has served as National Program Coordinator.
Joel graduated from William Booth University (DRC) with B.A. in Business Administration and management in 2005 and is in his quest of pursuing a Master in Business Administration (MBA) in the United States. He is a participant in GYCA’s Political Advocacy e-course, Project Management, GYCA’s 3-Week Intensive Preparation Course for International Conference and Grant Writing Proposal.
His experience in involvement with young organizations working on development issues and his participation in international conferences refined his ability to think critically and approach problems that affect youth. He have developed maturity, flexibility to lead youth groups, excellent judgment and common sense, great people skills and interest in international issues.
He is a credible young people, with diplomatic approach, enthusiasm and possesses the required skills and charms, which can help him to engage as a valuable representative of his community, region, nation and the global team of youth. His hard work, dedication and sincerity ensure the success of the programme is involved.
To end, Joel is also a strong believer on the power that youth can have in their communities, by becoming engaged, organized and motivated. He learned to strive very hard each day to balance his activism life with his academic life and to understand that life is a constant journey, never a destination. Now, He lives his life to the fullest each day with honor, passion and adventure.
