About Me |
I am currently pursuing an Master in Business Administration (MBA), Executive Management with a Specialization in Leadership, as well as the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation through Royal Roads University and CMC-Canada.
Through my consulting practice, I hope to build upon my experiences in community and asset-based approaches to development (sustainable livelihoods); provide executive coaching and leadership workshop design; and deliver knowledge content on leadership development to better educate managers on their management style. I am also interested in change management and transition planning through a social responsibility lens. I am looking forward to working with individuals to achieve their fullest potential and purpose!
I have spent the greater part of my career as a public servant at Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC). After being away for about 7 years living in Ottawa, Boston, Victoria and Ukraine, I recently moved back to my home-town of Winnipeg in February 2008.
A bit more about me…
I attended the University of Winnipeg and obtained a BA in International Development Studies and a minor in Economics. I spent my final semester at Kyiv-Mohyl Academy in Ukraine learning the Ukrainian language and history. An internship with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) jumpstarted my professional career, where I worked at the Education Development Center in Boston on international youth employment, entrepreneurship and knowledge communications.
I joined the Federal Government in 2003. First, at Industry Canada, I worked in a shop that partnered with various organizations around the world to build their capacity in information and communication technologies (ICTs). We linked foreign governments, agencies and companies with Canadian companies, organizations, and entrepreneurs while helping Canadian organizations and individuals identify opportunities for partnerships and alliances in global markets.
Then, at HRSDC in the field of Labour Market and Social Policy, I provided advice on policy/program commitments to Canadians as well as on organizational priorities for the Department. In addition, under the Housing and Homelessness Branch (HHB), I worked with staff from every province to support regional implementation of a shelter-use data and information management software. While at HHB, I held positions in both research and policy as the subject lead in asset-based social policy. After receiving training in Micro-enterprise Development at S. New Hampshire University's School of Community Economic Development, I designed a pilot program options for individual approaches to self-sufficiency based on micro-lending and saving methodologies and community economic development models from around the world. I complimented this work, and continue to build my expertise, by volunteering on Boards and with the non-profit sector.
