My home is in Sullivan County (aka Middle-of-Nowhere) where the livin' is good. We have one traffic light in the county and NO fast food chains. Yes, there are still places like that! The last "Boot Camp" I attended was a prelude to military service so I'm expecting this go-round to be intense - though I'm pleased to see that there's no Guard Duty roster included in the agenda. (Or, perhaps that's the "Surprise Activity".) I served as Curriculum/Technology Director for the Fort Benning Schools, Fort Benning, GA, for 16 years before returning home to Pennsylvania in 1999. In that capacity I worked with administrators, teachers and students in grades P-8 in seven elementary schools and one middle school. In 1991 I became involved in an International Adventure Learning Project (The International Arctic Project) as a member of the Design Team for the Educational Component of this 4-year project. As a result of that project I have been involved in four other Adventure Learning experiences - behind-the-scenes in two and expedition member in the other two (one to Antarctica and the other in Alaska). Our Adventure Learning projects all involved on-line components for students so I've had a great deal of experience in promoting and sustaining participation. While at Fort Benning I was also heavily involved in Leadership Training for school administrators and had the opportunity to work with a number of experts in the field. My most recent "big" adventure was the Serum Run '25 in Alaska. These come around about every four years and that one was in 2002. Hmmmmmmmmmm...
