But what I find sad about the modern Olympics, business has become bigger that the sports. The publicity market in a big event like that is so big; there are Medias from all around the world. With those chances, the CIO who’s supposed to be an organization that promotes amateur sports, are today an organization looking for big bucks and profit at the Olympics. Over that, every Olympics we hear about scandals. Dope scandals, organization scandals, judges and referees scandal… this year, we even talk about weather scandal. The reason of that is the enormous amount of journalist of all over the globe, all looking for THE story to tell the world. I hope in Vancouver, we are going to talk only about sports and performances, like Jacques Rogge, president of CIO, hopes. For the first time in my life, the Olympics are coming to my country, I didn’t had the chance to see the world coming to my city in 1976, and neither in Calgary in ’88. So I hope my country will make me proud in the way they receive the world for the next 2 weeks. Everything seems ready to begin, and I have no doubt that the people from British Columbia will make every Canadians proud of those games, and will show the best image of Canada as possible. I just wish the best of luck to all the athletes, especially to the Canadians in their quest for Olympic gold. For some of those athletes, 10 years of preparation will come down to half a minute, that’s why I hope the games will not be denaturized by some kind of bad stories, and that we will let shine those athletes for their moment of glory. Even, if you are not living in a winter country, I encourage you to watch the games, because at the Olympics sport goes beyond sport.
