Ian Michado Sebastian Royer is a 28 year old entrepreneur from Trinidad and Tobago whose practical experience across various sectors spanning 10 years in various sectors such as business, film, fashion advertising, diplomacy and development.
After one year stint at Lonsdale Saatchi & Saatchi where his skills earned the agency four awards at the Advertising Agency Association of Trinidad and Tobago 2008 awards and a silver ADDY award internationally. In the last three years Ian has consulted as a New Media Specialist and Publicist for several clients including Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago 2009/2010, Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss Universe 1998, (Online Brand/ Imaging & Letters to Ailan Book Project), Anya Ayoung Chee, Miss Trinidad and Tobago – Universe (2007-2009 and many others. He has spent the last two years as the Creative Director for Proudfoot Communications Limited, a digital agency in Trinidad and Tobago and is an Executive Producer and the Creative Director for Caribbean’s Next Top Model which gained him an invitation to TEDxUWI in March 2012 as a branding expert to speak on the development of the Caribbean Brand.
He has spent the last 12 years volunteering with the UN, he has assisted with the writing of three international youth declarations (UNGYLS New York, 2006, Paramaribo 2007, Summit of the Americas 2009, Commonwealth Heads of Government Youth Forum – CYF7 2009) and has acted as Head Trainer for the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain, Model United Nations Assembly from 2006 to 2011. This year he will step into the MUNA as the Event Co-Ordinator.
Ian has also participated as a facilitator for the Campaign to End Aids (C2EA) Youth Action Institute 2010 in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, where he co-wrote the first ever declaration for the summit and a statement presented to the United States Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). He was then elected the Co-Chairman of the C2EA Youth Caucus and is the first non American to hold this position. He has since gone on to be the C2EA Youth CO-Chair from 2010 to 2012.
In April 2011 he acted as a member of the International Steering Committee for the UNAIDs Global Youth Leadership Summit on HIV/AIDS in Bamako Mali where his key responsibility was overseeing the drafting committee for the Call to Action for the summit. Subsequently he attended the UNAIDS HIV Prevention Committee meeting as a feature speaker on using social media for prevention and is working with various industry leaders on a prevention exercise that will be called Stand Width, which will be a multi platform prevention initiative. In June 2011 Ian participated on the Trinidad and Tobago delegation to the United Nations High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS and focused on gaining support for more youth advocacy and participation in policy making. Recently elected as the Regional Focal Point for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS he is evermore committed to being a Young Leader in the AIDS response for the unification of the global youth to a combustion point where they are empowered and motivated to really make that impact.
