 About Me |
Imane Khachani holds a Doctor of Medicine degree with Honors from Rabat’s School of Medicine and Pharmacy and has conducted her doctoral thesis on “The Impact of cognitive-behavioural interventions on patients’ adherence to HAART in resource-constrained settings; the case of an Arab country: Morocco”, which has been proposed to the National Doctoral Thesis Award.
She is an Oxfam International Youth Action Partner (OIYP) since 2003 and has participated to the GYCA-OIYP research on youth-led initiatives in the area of HIV-AIDS. She is also an active member of the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights and has participated to several international events and UN high level meetings, advocating for young people’s sexual and reproductive rights.
She has taken the Special Youth fellowship at the United Nations Fund for Populations (UNFPA) in New York and has been working on models of Youth Friendly Clinics adapted to adolescents and young people’s health needs in the Arab region. She has collaborated with UNFPA Morocco in several youth projects and is currently the coordinator of its Youth Advisory Panel, a structure aiming to ensure young people’s meaningful participation in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Fund’s programmes.
Imane is also engaged in the Women’s Rights movement in Morocco and has been actively involved in the advocacy activities that accompanied the review process of the National Family Code in 2003. She has volunteered in a centre for illiterate women as a reproductive health counsellor and has facilitated small group discussions on adolescents’ health. She recently represented Morocco amongst the youth delegation invited to the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society.
Imane is passionate about history and international politics. She loves travelling and learning about different cultures, listening to world music, reading poetry and tries sometimes to compose decent alexandrines. She has played violin for 5 years and enjoys dancing, particularly belly dancing and flamenco.
