I belong to one of the most underdeveloped district of Sindh province named Kamber-Shahdadkot an old part of Larkana. There are very few women who have studied in our villages, I initially worked as a teacher to contribute in providing quality education to children but soon realized that I should be a part of some organizations to provide my services to more people in organized manner. Therefore, I joined CYF to reach out poor people of the country. However, I understand that without sound understanding of development issues, its underlying causes and what interventions are necessary to address these issues, it is difficult to make much difference in the lives of poor people. In a team I enhanced my theoretical understanding and been provided an opportunity to learn how to express my views in bigger forum to do something special for neighbor girls more effectively. While working at grass-root I learned that community really needs a comprehensive knowledge about different diseases to save the hundred thousand innocent lives, so I have been working on peer education as a Peer Educator and Assistant Coordinator-CYF and have trained more than 300 girls on HIV-AIDS prevention and Peer education from the platform of CYF. Additionally, I have a job with the USAID funded project in Mercy Corps on Family advancement for life and health where I have been working on reproductive health with village women and girls. It is my dream that every girl who is born in this world should be an educated and brave to face the problems occur commonly in our villages like violence against women, discrimination and victimization. I utilize all my efforts to strengthen the services of CYF to work more effectively at grass-root with the girls who are or can be the victims of HIV/AIDS. |
