Rodrigo Ardiles
Program director Hip Hop versus HIV/AIDS
Promotion and Health Activist – Multimedia Artist, Muralist & Professional Photographer
Born in Chile, raised in Toronto, Santiago and Montreal. This nomad artist spend his adolescence painting murals on the streets of Chile. During the 90’s Rodrigo returned to Montreal, to strengthen his multimedia skills; acquired photo/digital editing, art history and communication formation.
His participation in art cooperatives and workshops across Canada & parts of Latin America exposed him to areas such as health advocacy and education in low-income communities.
During the past decade, Rodrigo has produced various cultural productions and public health conferences in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Caracas, Havana and Santiago by combining his cultural, communication and artistic production skills. His professional experience in health communications has led him to start developing educational workshops through popular art to be taught in various youth community centers in Canada and abroad.
He has been accepted to present his recent abstract "Hip hop as educational tool; an alternative & creative approach to prevention" at the next International AIDS conference that will take place in Toronto in August 2006.
His next initiative is to introduce the Chilean chapter of H vs. H in the cities and communities of Valparaiso and the capital, working hand and hand with the youth to create a Hip HOPERA based on health prevention and human rights.
