In the past 4 year's Marco has worked extensively to advocate, speak about YLWHAs issues with important decision-making adults (government, NGOs and ASOs, global agencies) plans, policy and treatment policies/guidelines to involve the GIPA principle of YLWHA.Marco is an advisory committee member of PYO (Positive Youth Outreach Programme) and Principle advisor committee member on a site that was implemented and developed by and for youth living with HIV/AIDS in Canada (www.livepositive.ca). In 2006 Marco was elected as the first youth to seat at CTAC (Canadian Treatment Action Council). He has also been elected to seat on the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) as a delegate of the SUPPORT- Delegation. Marco advocated and was voted to seat on the Special Youth Seat representing the province of Ontario, Canada. Participated in the International AIDS conference Toronto, as a panel discussion speaker, presenter of an abstract, participated in a documentary that followed 5 adults & 1 youth through the conference. Was invited by WHO/UNICEF to Malawi (November 2006) as a youth recipient to participate in a consultation “strengthening the health sector contribution to care, support, treatment & prevention for Young People Living With HIV/AIDS”. Seats on the Ontario vaccine/ prevention technology trials network as a youth steering committee member. Steering Committee member for IPPF, (SFRCH Canada) as of 2006. In 2007 Marco was elected to sit on the Steering Committee on Children Refugees and HIV at the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children. Spearheaded a new initiative of GYCA called Living Positively with another GYCA youth leader living with HIV/AIDS, an international community for youth living with HIV and AIDS (www.youthaidscoalition.org/living.html). He also seats on the Positive Prevention working Group (WG) that will explore the creation of a working definition and discussion paper on the role of people living with HIV/AIDS in prevention that will lead to a pan-Canadian framework for positive prevention. He has also been elected to seat on the civil society working group in the UNITAID delegation board. UNITAID is the culmination of long efforts on the part of the international community to mobilize a portion of resources generated by globalization to benefit development. He also sits on the Mexico Youth Force 2008, for the upcoming Mexico International AIDS Conference 2008. Marco has just completed a B.A. in Policy and Governance from Ryerson University Toronto, Canada. Marco hopes to begin a master's focusing on Policy and Politics or multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS, including planning and managemnt within the next two-years, upon which Marco intends on working within the community in youth initiatives programmes to combat prevalence rates of youth MSM populations. Currently Marco will be developing his skills and experiences with an internship in Ghana, where his looking forward to his work as a Youth HIV/AIDS Development Programme Coordinator.
