Over Mij

Genevieve Whitaker received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law where served as a Public Service Fellow receiving the Public Service Recognition Award for her exemplary service locally and worldwide. Miss Whitaker received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Government & World Affairs from The University of Tampa with Honors Program Distinction in May 2003. Before entering law school, she served as a Delegate for the International Scholar Laureate Program where she traveled to the Eastern European countries of Austria, Hungary, & the Czech Republic and met with diplomats and members of parliament to solve issues relating to the European Union’s impact on the post-communist region. Miss Whitaker has was re-nominated for the 2006 Mission on Diplomacy. In 2005 she served as a Panelist for “People Speak 2005: “U.S. Foreign Policy and the Importance of the United Nations” where she discussed why the relationship between the United States and United Nations is so importance in our world today as we are faced with major national security challenges in a post 9/11 world. Most recently, Miss Whitaker has served as a Council for American Students in International Negotiations Delegate for the Pan-American Health Organization & World Health Organization World Health Day Conference in Washington, D.C. (April 2-3, 2007).
Miss Whitaker, a human rights activist, is passionate about the rule of law and advocacy in championing great causes, particularly those related to women and children, and is pursuing a career as an International Human Rights lawyer. Miss Whitaker is the United Nations Association of the USA’s Young Professionals for International Cooperation Program (UNA-USA YPIC) National Policy Chair for the International Law and in that capacity she directs the UNA-USA YPIC International Law Thematic Policy Group which brings together youth professionals from around the country to engage in advocacy and policy writing on international law issues. Miss Whitaker is the former founding Chair of the UNA-USA YPIC’s Tampa Bay Program (2005-2006) and former member of the Board of Directors of UNA-USA Tampa Bay (2005-2007). Miss Whitaker also serves as a local Alliance leader for the UNA-USA’s American NGOs Coalition for the International Criminal Court. Additionally, Miss Whitaker is quite involved with international development as serves on the Board of Directors and is the Director of Volunteer & Youth Advocacy of Partners for Freedom & Democracy, an international NGO based both in the United States and Nigeria. The purpose of PFD is to promote freedom, strengthen democracy through the rule of law, and advocate for civic awareness and education. In terms of her human rights activism, Miss Whitaker serves as the Florida Legislative Coordinator for Amnesty International-USA (AIUSA).
Miss Whitaker’s hobbies include playing the piano, dancing, aerobics & she is a certified SCUBA diver. She also enjoys fashion, cooking, traveling and tasting foods from different cultures.
