 About Me |
Gillian is the Project Coordinator for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), a youth-led global network of over 7,000 young people fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS in over 170 countries worldwide. GYCA empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, resources and opportunities they need to be effective agents of change in their communities.
Gillian joins the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS in a coordinating role after recently earning her Master of Science in Non-Profit Management at The New School. She completed a consultancy with GYCA in 2011, the purpose of which was to conduct an organizational analysis and lay the groundwork for a strategic planning process.
Prior to joining GYCA, Gillian worked at the Women's Institute for Secondary Education and Research (WISER) in Muhuru Bay, Kenya. At WISER, Gillian promoted girls' education and gender equality while also managing a UNICEF-funded project that promoted health education in local primary schools.
Gillian graduated from the University of Vermont in 2009 with a major in Art History and a minor in History. She has conducted research on global health disparities, gender inequality, water and sanitation accessibility, infectious disease, community engagement, and participatory development.
