I have a burden for the continent of Africa, especially the poor and the needy people of Kenya. I am concerned about the health of the people living in slums with no access or very little access to efficient health facilities. I am interested in pursuing medicine as a call more than just a career. I would not only like to give them treatment but also empower them with the knowledge to enable them to live a healthy and fullfilling life both physically and spiritually. My conviction and interest in doing medicine was as a result of the long illness of my father, the late pastor Hosea Odwaro. He was diagnosed with acute leukimia in 1995 in Vancouver general hospital in Canada. He later died of the same in late 1998. This was a hard time for the family but it left me with determination and the zeal to do medicine. It has been a long time of preparation towrads my journey of doing medicine, but finally I have taken steps towards my calland career! I have been admitted to Kharkiv State Medical University in Ukrain! My mother Nancy Odwaro and my boyfriend Eddy Orinda, not forgetting my friends and relatives have been of great support and encouragement during my dark days. They have brightened my days and lightened my burden through words of encouragement and wise counsel. They have given their time, efforts and finances to see me achieve my dream. Being able to be in the medical school is one thing and doing medicine is another but I know that mt determination will see me though!
