I was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and I grew up in Vancouver, Canada. I came to the USA for post-secondary studies, and it was here that I discovered activism, and international developmental work. I first got involved with Engineers Without Borders in my first year of university, and it has completely changed my perspective on life. Life should be about helping others and leaving your mark on humanity, and not just about selfish personal interests. Through my friends, I also got into environmental sustainability. I'm a major supporter of sustainable energy generation, as well as increasing energy efficiency of buildings and electrical devices, as well as passive house technology. I am interested in helping improve technology penetration in developing countries. In the current accelerating world of technology advancement, globalization has left much of the developing world behind, mainly due to lack of access to technology. As the President of EWB-UIUC, I am currently overseeing three projects, in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Guatemala. Though the main purpose of these projects is the construction of sustainable and reliable water infrastructure and distribution systems, my vision is to work with the communities to ensure that the seeds of technology and knowledge will be planted in these communities, so that they can be spread through a large grass-root effort. The website for EWB-UIUC is: http://ewb-uiuc.org/ If you have any comments or questions, or want to work together on developmental efforts, please don't hesitate to contact me.
