 About Me |
I’m an exiled VOA Somali Service stringer. I am also a founder and board member of Somalia Coalition for Freedom of Expression (SOCFEX). For a time I was Secretary General of SOMALI INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPERS’ ASSOCIATION. I was also the Chief Editor of a weekly newspaper called SANCA until it was closed down due to the instability that engulfed the country.
Of late the fighting in Mogadishu has progressively intensified and has affected area that has been relatively quiet. My home happens to be in the area where the heaviest fighting is taking place. The area was suddenly attacked by the Al-Shabaab group and their allies and I narrowly escaped capture. I was later informed that some Al-Shabaab elements stormed into my house minutes after I left. I was then forced to flee from my home country and I am now living in Kampala as exiled journalist.
