In January of 2007 I held a visiting research fellowship with the SAPRA India Foundation, a New Delhi-based Indian think tank that specializes in South and Central Asian regional security, political risk, military affairs, and terrorism. While at SAPRA I authored numerous "country briefs" as well as several articles including those entitled " Washington or Moscow: India Armed With Choices," "U.S. leaning Harder on Musharraf," and "Real Men Go to Khuzistan." My Fellowship with SAPRA provided me the opportunity to further develop my research, writing and analysis skills, acquire substantial knowledge of regional security challenges (from Kabul to Columbo, Bombay to Burma), and develop professional and personal relationships with Indian national who share my passion for international politics. Upon my return to the U.S. I briefly lived in my hometown of Boulder, CO, where I again found employment in the restaurant industry and worked to save money to move to Washington D.C. In early August I relocated to Washington with a strong desire to continue the work I began in Delhi. I hope to have the opportunity to again study and publish on South Asian affairs, engage in substantive policy discussions, and build a network of transnational security policy experts to help inform the discourse on U.S.-India relations. Currently I hold the Service Fellowship at Innovations in Civic Participation, a non-profit dedicated to the study and promotion of youth service and civic engagement. At ICP I am working on several projects: First, I am working to redevelop and relaunch the ICP website. Second, I am working with the World Bank's Children and Youth Division to insert youth service and civic engagement into the development agenda. Finally, I am working to co-sponsor an international conference of experts on youth service and civic engagement in the South Asia region to be held in August of 2008 in New Delhi.
