Esther has been highly active in Earth Charter Initiative’s youth network. She is the Earth Charter Youth Group coordinator of ECYG Calabar and Manage the Earth Charter Youth Special Project-Nigeria that focuses on Peace development in the Niger Delta. The Earth Charter takes a special interest in promoting youth activism in sustainable development. She is a Group member of the “First Steps Campaign” a youth group that was birthed during the 2008 Civicus Youth Assembly in Scotland which aims ti inspire actions and she happens to be one of the committee members. Esther was actively involved as the African representative at the International Organizing committee of the 5th World Water Youth Forum in Istanbul in March 2009. In May 2009, She was supported by the German Government for Participation at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development 17th session held at the UN headquarters in New York for her work on Youth in Sustainability in Nigeria where she delivered the Youth Opening Statement for the Youth and Children Major Group. In response to her youth work in the Niger Delta, She was awarded the Prestigious Dekeyser & Friends Foundation 2009 full Fellowship in Germany. She is currently undergoing the Fellowship with some 14 Fellows around the world!.Esther is also the focal person for the Young Commonwealth Climate Network in Nigeria. Esther will also be representing African youths at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP 15) in December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark Esther has also volunteered, consulted for Actionaid International Nigeria, and currently sit in it's General Assembly as the only Youth Representative Esther holds a B.Sc in Education Chemistry from the University of Calabar,Nigeria and besides her specialization in Teaching,counseling and coaching she has studied various subjects in humanities, health ,environment and sustainable development, business and management Her professional skills include but not limited to: Transformational Leadership Development Program (UNDP) where she emerged as the youngest National Coach of Transformational Leadership Development Program of UNDP Nigeria in 2007, Youth Sexuality (Youth Sexuality Institute Nigeria at the 3rd Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Right 2008 where she was the only Youth Presenter ), Poverty(Actionaid International Youth HungerFREE Project known as Activista in Nigeria, Cross River state focal Point), Gender based violence,Climate change and sustainability from Earth charter International (e-Eglo project) and other Institutions . Since becoming an Active member of TakingITGlobal in 2006, she had the Opportunity in 2007 of working with and for TIG as Youth Engagement Officer in Creating Local Connections In West Africa-Nigeria Project, an Initiative of TIG with Funding from Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA), a project that Runs in Five West African Countries: www.projects.takingitglobal.org/clcwestafrica-nigeria. She has also served as a Volunteer Toolkits Editor for TIG Esther is planing with her colleagues to host the 1st National Youth Climate Change Forum, October 29th 2009 Esther strongly believes in Inter-generational equity and partnership for sustainability.
