About Me   About Me
I work for a charity called the Encompass Trust. We were set up by the family of someone who was killed in the Bali Bomb in 2002. They wanted to do something to address the issue of why people end up killing one another. They felt that while one group of people is able to dehumanize the faith or the culture of another group, events like the one that killed Dan will go on happening and that in-order to prevent other such indiscriminate killings they had to open minds to the value and humanity of the other.

And that is what we do!

We run "Journeys of Understanding", residential programs which bring together young people from ethnically, religiously and socially marginalised communities from around the UK, the US, Indonesia, Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Ireland.

In safe, neutral environments, challenging activities are run to build trust between natural enemies as well as people who have simply never met before. At the same time discussions are held to allow the young people a chance to talk about issues of identity, conflict and cultural understanding.
