About me
Emily Carson is the currently the communications intern for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS, and the former North American Focal point on HIV-AIDS. She has lived in the United States, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and India. She has spent a considerable amount of time studying international Politics and culture and is now integrating that into the work she is doing with HIV. At 20, Emily has been working with HIV for 7 years, starting by developing high-school education programs for her peers that led to a position with the Board of Directors of The Alliance for Living in New London, Connecticut. She worked at the Alliance for living as an Intern as well as a Board Member representing the Youth Voice of HIV in the Community. Emily's International Interests led her to spend 3 months living in North India in 2006. In University she studied abroad in Latin America spending a year between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, studying the AIDS epidemic. In 2008, Emily went to Bangalore, India and studied the South Asian AIDS epidemic. Emily returned to Toronto in '09 and is currently attending The University of Guelph-Humber for Media and Journalism. She is active in local AIDS organizations and LGBT and Political organizations in both the United States and Canada.
