About Me |
As a young adult I began to understand that the youth is our future, and at the age of 16 I began to get involved with a lot of community service activities, involved in scouting, sports and the environment. I was prepared to give back to the community of which I had a got so much from as a child. In 2001 I received the highest award possible available in Scouting as a youth member, the Queens Scout Award. This award was presented to me by the Governor of NSW Marie Bashir. After the award I continued my work in community and received a second award in 2002 from Hunters Hill Council, my local municipality, for the Young Citizen of the Year. Also, this year I began my studies at the University of New South Wales studying Psychology. In 2005, I was chosen to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award program. This was a week long intensive course of understanding ourselves and how to better lead in our roles in the community. It helped us to be the change, and implement what we had learnt into the community. This year, I also completed my studies in Psychology and Marketing, enabling me to begin my work in change and the future. My ideals have not changed from when I was younger and I still see the importance of youth in the future, because it is us, the youth, who has to create the kind of future we want to live in.
