In the past five years, I have been a member of many national and international youth groups responding to HIV and AIDS as they affect young people, advocating for Young people sexual reproductive health and right helping young people to develop their potential to the fullest, and to protect themselves from abuse and exploitation, as well as advocate for their right to access information and material aimed at promoting their health and their well-being Currently I am dedicating my efforts as the Executive Director of Communication 4 Social Change; a media based non-governmental organization committed to increasing health awareness among individuals, groups and communities on HIV/AIDS with the aid of films and Public Service Announcement. On campus I am also dedicating my efforts as the president of Kaduna State University Life Saver’s Club committed to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on young people in campus. I am a proactive youth whose enthusiasm, passion and willingness to learn stand out among my peers. Beside that I am creative and also a team player who can work with little or minimal supervision. The most gratifying aspect of my work is seeing a community were young people are seen as partners in bringing long lasting development, because I believe that what ever I contribute to my community is what the community gives back to me. On that note I strive to see myself as part of the solution toward attaining a better tomorrow & future for youths. The most challenging aspect of my work is the diversity of our culture and the people of my country Nigeria, coupled with the fact that there are lot of policies with little political commitment in the implementation of these policies, with all this challenges young people still have great hopes of change. My passion is my driving force because I want to see and become a part of a community where everyone counts. During the course of my participation at the TIG, I would learn new things that I can replicate among my peers on my return to my community. It will also avail me the opportunity to network and put my community issues on a global perspective. My motivation of joining Taking it Global is to increase awareness in my community leading to better cooperation and understanding & identifying specific solutions on issues raised at the forum. It will also establish exchange of ideas and lesson learned, establish linkages to promote and form network for collective action for my community development, and facilitate interactions among my peers for mutual learning exchange of ideas and a pooling of resources.
