About Me |
Tyler was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 29, 1988 and would consider himself to be independent, yet able to work in a team atmosphere, dedicated, and hard working. He has been heavily involved in his school and community since grade 9.
Tyler's main interest is helping the community. He has spent 90 percent of his time for the past 4 years getting involved in the community and helping where needed. As stated in his education section, he has learned more from getting heavily involved than anyone could ever teach him. "It's easy to say I am a part of a community...but when I get involved in grass root activities and projects, it really allows me to appreciate where I live." Every year Tyler participates in a community clean up with the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma. "I must say that our city is truly 'A Clean City, A Beautiful City', and it feels good to be a part of the cleaning of it and in the planting of new life."
Another interest of Tyler's which goes hand-in-hand with getting involved in the community is politics. He is an aspiring politician. Currently sitting on the Toronto Western Hospital Community Advisor Committee, the Toronto Youth Cabinet, the Canadian Institute of Theatre Technology Board of Directors, and the Raising the Roof YouthWorks Board of Advisors; he is the founder and Executive Director of the Youth Parliament of Canada; he is a past Kiwanis Key Club Governor for Eastern Canada; and is always actively participating in conferences, workshops, committees, sub-committees, and volunteering to affect change in this city, province, and country.
Tyler is currently attending George Brown College. Although some would say learning and education takes place in school, Tyler disagrees. "Much of what I have learned so far has come from being involved in my community. By becoming the Governor of the Eastern Canada Key Clubs, the Administrative Assistant for Trustee Chris Bolton, and by getting involved with student politics, youth advocacy, and in getting involved period." Tyler has learned skills and a work ethic which can only come from experience. You could say he's Continuing Education...and achieving more!
