About me
I have a Bachelor of arts Degree in Linguistics from the University of Zambia and have also completed a foundational level in international computer driving license(ICDL),HIV/AIDS training and entreprenuership. I did an NGO consultancy training with UNGANA AFRIKA and I also attended a Monitoring and Evaluation workshop with my organisation. In addition, I will be completing my e-course on PRSPs with UNFPA in the next few days.
Currently, I am a member of Rescue Mission Zambia, and I hold the position of Director of Capacity Building and Internal Affairs. This involves building capacity of the members in the organisation as well as other areas. My role also involves ensuring smooth communication between different tiers within the organisation.
I am the focal person for HIV/AIDS in my organisation. It all started when I was involved as a research assistant at INESOR for local community HIV/AIDS response and competence building project which was commissioned by the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), from which I gained interest in issues of HIV/AIDS.
From there, I seriously got into the field and attended a number of conferences and workshops from which I gained the experience.Among those attended are; the National HIV/AIDS/STIs/TB Council National Youth HIV/AIDS Consultative and Best-Practice Sharing Workshop. The workshop brought together youth from across the country working in HIV/AIDS organisations and projects to charter the way forward in how young people can be effectively involved in the National HIV/AIDS Response and to share how best youth can tackle the HIV/AIDS pandemic. I also attended the World Bank / National AIDS Council Seminar for Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building in the HIV/AIDS Sector as part of the National AIDS Response. The seminar looked at the youth involvement in the National AIDS response and how this could be strengthened. It analysed the research carried out on the subject matter and suggested the way forward. recently, I participated in the ACT AS ONE Workshop which aimed at strenghening the swedish and norwergian response to HIV/AIDS.
Being the focal person for HIV/AIDS in my organisation, I am involved in information dissemination, on prevention, human rights, advocacy as well as stigma and discrimination. This is done through various strategies such as, focus group discussions, workshops, seminars and through sport with young people.
In this field, my journey has just began and I hope to inspire and strengthen others in a way that I can.
