Something about me: A self-starter, pro-active and hard working professional community education and youth worker, competent in demonstrating effective face to face skills when working with people and understand development projects specific to community education and youth work practice. Able to use own initiative, develop self-awareness of own performance when working with individuals, in teams and groups. I have proven multifaceted professional skills and techniques in working with individuals, groups and communities towards development goals. I have developed a repertoire of personal critical skills appropriate for working with organisations, young people and community groups like advocacy skills, organisational management, policy development, befriending, counselling, advisory skills, mentoring, communication, facilitative skills and I’m capable of creating a conducive and enabling environment when working with other staff to achieve organisational objectives. An effective communicator at all levels within and outside the organisation. I have acquired effective report writing skills, problem solving and analytical skills, applicable in a multidiscipline environment.
I am a holder of the BA(Hons)Youth and Community Education. I have been in the youth movement for over 15 years. Ian currently the Executive Director of Youth Cultural Promotion Association (YOCUPA) a network of over 200 cultural and theatre groups involved in HIV/AIDS, civic education, and other development issues. Iam a National Chairperson of the Forum for Youth Organisations in Zambia, a network of over 300 youth NGOs and CBOs spread across the country.By nature of being a chairperson of this largest youth netwok in the country ,I represent the youth of Zambia in the National HIV/AIDS/TB Council and Country Coordinating Mechanism for Global HIV/TB and Malaria Fund Boards.I have been exposed to so many youth related activities and programmes both at management, pprogramme and policy levels.
