Edgar has served as the Regional Focal Point for Global Youth Coalition on HIV and AIDS (GYCA) in East Africa between 2009 and 2010. Edgar holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Gender and Development Studies from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He has also been expansively trained in Project Management, Political Advocacy, Reproductive Health, Youth Development, Peer Education, Computer Programming, Website Development and Statistical Softwares. Currently, Edgar works as a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant, focussing on Data Analysis with Baptist AIDS Response Agency in Africa (BARAA), a continental NGO working in the areas of health closely with its partners; NPI, CDC and the US in implementing HIV and AIDS Initiatives across the Continent. Edgar has represented the Young People and GYCA in a number of International Meeting and Conferences including MC Update meeting organised by WHO in June 2010, Arusha Tanzania. He also took part in the review of the document titled “Integrating Male Circumcision and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Programmes”, developed by Promundo with support from WHO, UNICEF and Engender Health, coordinated by UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO in Durban South Africa, in May, 2010. In 2008 Edgar was instrumental in the UNICEF’s Regional Consultation on Youth and Male Circumcision which took place in Johannesburg. Prior to the Youth consultation meeting GYCA was engaged in a series of meetings in Switzerland, Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya. In 2008, Edgar led a team of Young People in reviewing UNGASS, and drafting the Kenya National Youth Shadow Report for 2008 which was tabled at the UNGASS-HLM in New York. In July 2009, during a UNHCR Meeting in Nairobi, Edgar presented a Paper on HIV and AIDS Program outreaches in refugee camps across Africa. Edgar has also represented Youths at the Global Citizens Summit, Nairobi, in May 2009 organised by Actionaid International. In addition, Edgar has also taken leadership roles in organising Conferences and Pre-conferences including the 2nd NOPE International Conference on Peer Education and Sexuality held in Nairobi, in June 2008. His ten years experience working with the young people, Edgar has developed key competencies in Organizing meetings, seminars, conferences, Planning, Implementation and Monitoring; Presentation and Training.
