Edgar is the current Eastern Africa Regional Focal Point for GYCA’s and works as an IT and Data Assistant with The Baptist AIDS Response Agency in Africa (BARAA), A continental NGO working closely with the NPI, CDC and the US in implementing HIV and AIDS Initiatives across the Continent. Edgar brings eight years of experience working with the Youths on issues related to HIV and AIDS across the globe. Edgar’s resume includes; Working as a Taskforce Member for GYCA, Global Youth Action Network and TIG [2009 – 2010]; Presenting a Paper to the UNHCR on HIV and AIDS Program outreaches in refugee camps across Africa at the Stanley’s Sarova Hotel, Nairobi [July, 2009]; East Africa Youth Regional Representative Global Citizens Summit, KICC, Nairobi [May, 2009];Youth Consultant in Male Circumcision with the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/ AIDS led by UNICEF in Johannesburg, South Africa [August, 2008]; Chair during the Advocacy session at the 2nd NOPE International Conference at KICC, Nairobi in [June 2008]; Trainer on Networking during the Youth Pre- 2nd NOPE Conference in Nairobi, [May 2008]; Executive Chair and Lead Trainer Parklands Baptist Peer Counselling Team [2008]; Team Leader United Nations General Assembly, UNGASS, Kenya National Youth Shadow Report [2009 – 2010]; Mentor and Counselling Therapist Parklands Peer Counselling Team [2007 & 2008]; Founder and Member Male Circumcision (MACI) Advocacy Project on TIG – Taking IT Global [2008]; Sharing of Experiences on the True Love Waits Model with seven of the Southern African States in Johanesburg [2007]; Human rights campaign in relation to the youths; Training on Project Management at the Kenya Youth National Summit organized by The Lutheran Church of America at the Lenana School [April 2009]; Last but not least Edgar has also worked very closely with the Kenyan Media Houses in TV Program Productions, Documentaries and Radio Interviews on HIV and Youth issues including Eyes on the People with Nation TV, Breakfast Show with KTN, Family Fest with Family TV as well as a number of radio interviews. Edgar has worked in a number of countries including South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda in carrying out HIV and AIDS interventions aimed at reducing and preventing HIV transmission. Among the populace he has worked with includes Youths in different institutions primarily in the Universities, The Street Families, The Marginalized groups especially in resource constrained areas and the pygmies communities in the Central Africa Region. His eight years experience working with the young people, Edgar has developed key competencies in Data Management and analysis using Epi-info, ; Organizing meetings, seminars, conferences and events; Planning, Implementation and Monitoring; Time, Organisation and Prioritising; and Verbal and Written Communication. Edgar is solid too in Facilitating, Presentation and Training; ICT; People Management; Diplomatic; Foreign Language; Project Management; and Research. Last but not least Edgar’s Personal Attributes include Dynamic; Ability to motivate teams as well as be a team player; Self driven, Analytical, Innovative; Creative; Ambitious; Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in work place; Good Interpersonal Skills; People Oriented; Self Motivated; and Disciplined.
