About Me |
I studied Nursing in Malawi and graduated with a Degree in Nursing Science at Kamuzu College of Nursing in 2010 with Credit. Since then i started working with a busy District Hospital at dowa District hospital-Malawi. With my passion for working with my fellow young people, i started volunteering at Family Planning Association of Malawi(FPAM) which is a reputable organisation affiliated to International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). In all Member Associations (African country organisations affiliated to IPPF) in africa, there is a youth movement called Youth Action Movement (YAM). Programmes in these movements are coordinated at branch/center level, then national level, then regional level. At regional level, there is a programme of youth internship, which runs on yearly rotational basis, aiming at teaching and supporting 2 young people in governance, leadership and managenment at IPPF regional offices. These interns become focal young people who cordinates all Youth action movement activities and information at regional level to all member associations in all countries. They mediate communication from IPPF central office in london, the 6 IPPF regional offices, the african region, other likeminded organisations to reach the member associations at national level.
Am one of the current youth interns doing my internship at IPPF african Region and my period started in April this year ending in November the same year. The main objectives of the internship are to 1. Build the capacity of young people in programme cycle management i.e. programme development, implementation, delivery and evaluation. 2. Strengthen the capacity of YAM to plan, roll out and evaluate advocacy activities at regional sub regional and national level. 3. Enhance IPPPF overall resolution and policy of youth participation in decision making, advocacy and programme delivery.
