About me
"The young leaders who gather for the second sitting of the Oxfam International Youth parliament (OIYP) in July 2004 in Sydney come from every corner of the Globe and each of them has something unique to contribute. In their diversity they are united by common ideals. They are determined to work together to bring real change where it is needed most in the world."
KOFI ANNAN, Former Secretary General, The United Nations
My aspiration is to significantly contribute to the many efforts that are realizing basic health and an acceptable quality of life for the world’s people. By, freeing the tremendous potential of young people so that they can contribute in meaningful, substantive and sustainable ways to effectively address the greatest challenges at the heart of our development agenda: poverty, conflict, hunger, environmental degradation, consolidating democracy and good governance, significantly increasing resources to fight our most devastating diseases and directing these resources to areas of utmost need, harnessing the benefits of science, technology and ICTs, and fostering trade, investment, economic growth, and equity in long-term development.
Global security requires real positive and lasting global development. Based on the premise that this sort of development can only progress where basic rights are realized, in 2002, I set up the youth run development agency Citron Wood Foundation With the support of other determined young people and a large network of interns, volunteers, experts and academia, through several initiatives, we continue to dedicate our energy and knowledge in an effort to bring positive and sustainable socioeconomic development where it is needed most. By, establishing conditions under which the welfare of the underprivileged can be enhanced, while taking an active role in key environmental concerns and conservation. (i)Poverty Reduction & Sustainable Development, (ii) HIV/AIDS, Malaria & Neglected Diseases, (iii) Human Rights and (iv) Environmental Conservation are our crosscutting priority areas. We are laying the foundations for communities to build more secure, sustainable and positive futures. [www.citronwoodfoundation.org]

I have also gained a wealth of experience through numerous other local and global development initiatives; as part of the Secretariat of the first ever-historical sitting of the African Youth Parliament [www.ayparliament.org]; as an Oxfam International Youth Parliament [Partnerships - www.iyp.oxfam.org] Action Partner and Trade Justice Activtist; as National Campaign Coordinator for the WSIS RYNICS [www.wsisyouth.org, www.madeinkenya.org] Youth Caucus Campaigns in Kenya, Youth Representative to the National WSIS Taskforce and Pavilion subcommittee, and coordinator of the very successful inaugural Kenya Youth and ICT Convention 2005 and upcoming Convention in 07;as the 2005/6 Eastern Africa Region Focal Point for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS [GYCA - www.youthaidscoalition.org], as a Member of the Scientific Committee and the Toronto Youth Force at XVI International Aids Conference (Toronto 2006.); as a stakeholder at the UNGASS Youth Summit, UNGASS Review Meeting 2006 and Media Representative on CNN Live, UN Radio and UNFPA Teleconference, as Founder and President of Citron Wood Foundation; and as a young professional, devout in the service of humanity.
Our actions or lack of them have strong bearing on the very survival and sustainability of society.
