Gulalai Ismail 23, Student of Bio-Technology University of M.Phil Biotechnology in Quaide-i-Azam University, Islamabad, founding member of Aware Girls, working as Chairperson of the Organization, it is an organization of young women working for young women empowerment, and protection of young women humans rights. The Organization focuses on equal involvement of young women in decision making and equal access to social services. The Organization was established with the purpose of providing young women a platform for capacity building and advocacy so that they can act as agents of change in their communities. Working as Co-Chairperson of Youth Advocacy Network on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights- Pakistan, the network aims on promoting and protecting young people’s sexual and reproductive health rights and meaningful participation of young people in the policies and programs that affect them.
Have the passion of activism and leadership, proved the leadership abilities by establishing Aware Girls with peer girls and working for young women empowerment from the platform of Aware Girls through young women group formation, strengthening leadership abilities of young women, Human Rights Education, Women Rights Education, Peace Education, raising awareness among young women about family planning and safe motherhood, capacity building of young women and women with disabilities in micro-entrepreneurship, and providing HIV/AIDS Education to young women in five districts of NWFP-Pakistan, capacity building of young activists in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Has been selected as YouthActionNet Fellow for 2009 for the efforts of educating young women of rural areas on the prevention and transmission of HIV/AIDS and a has been selected as Paragon Fellow for the five years HIV/AIDS education program, and finalist of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation Awards 2009
Strongly believes that peace and sustainable development are inextricably linked to gender equality. Neither peace nor sustainable development can be achieved without focus on women empowerment. Therefore, it is very important to mainstream women especially the most vulnerable.
