 About Me |
Mr. Christopher Corbin attended the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, and then conducted a further two years of postgraduate research in the field of environmental toxicology also at the University of the West Indies. During the period 1987 to 1992, Mr. Corbin worked at the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute (CEHI) as an environmental scientist where his primary responsibility was the formulation and implementation of multiple local and regional pollution monitoring programs.
Over the last 10 years Mr. Corbin has worked with the Ministry of Physical Development, Environment and Housing in Saint Lucia where he now holds the position of Senior Sustainable Development and Environment Officer. His duties include the planning, coordination and implementation of projects on waste management, water resource management, and coastal zone management. Mr. Corbin has also been involved in the formulation and implementation of national Environment and Sustainable Development Policies and Strategies. This has often entailed him representing the Government of Saint Lucia at several regional and international meetings in the field of environmental management and sustainable development.
Mr. Corbin represents the Ministry on a range of national boards and councils including the Saint Lucia National Trust Governing Council, Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Board, Hazardous Waste Advisory Committee, and the National Oil Spills Committee. He is also the current national technical focal point for the BASEL Convention on the Transboundary movement of Hazardous Wastes and the Land Based Sources of Marine Pollution Protocol of the Cartagena Convention.
