About Me

I tested HIV positive after my first relationship ended back in 1997 at the age of 17. I lost all hope as I developed AIDS defining illnesses in months. Somehow I managed to be be discarged from hospital and sat all my A-levels exams. I started taking treatment but had loads of side effects. After accessing services in the UK I left for the UK to study at UCSF AIDS Health project in California, San Francisco. My whole world opened up for the first time. I came to terms with my diagnosis and worked at several amazing agencies - leaning as much as I could. I deceided to head back to the UK to provide the support I never had.

In 1999, I founded Health Initiatives - as the first HIV agency in the UK to provide peer support to young living with HIV/AIDS. Touring the UK I managed to reach over 7,000 young people at Universities, Colleges, Schools and young offenders in prison. By using Televison I was able to reach more people and worked with MTV 'Staying Alive' to produce an advert and programme to support World AIDS Day. I've also appeared on radio shows and countless programmes to break the silence of people living with HIV/AIDS. I'm now in the process of setting up the UK's first weekend HIV testing clinic for young people under the age of 27. For more information please check out www.healthinitiatives.org.
