A truly fulfilled and happy life will not be determined by anyone else... you have to find it within yourself.
Many of us are following a path to try to become rich. This is a false path because it does not lead to happiness alone. Working incredibly hard is simply not enough to ensure happiness unless you enjoy that work (really enjoy it - you know within your heart). Please... take it easy and lead a balanced life. Following everyone else is not necessarily the best option.
I fint it essential that I make a difference in my lifetime. I believe in contributing more to the world than I take out. I work for Friends of the Earth in my city of Birmingham. Friends of the Earth campaign on environmental issues, which of course also affect people!
Last year I have travelled from Morocco to South Africa via 28 other countries over 8.5 months, November 2005 until July 2006. During that time, I have visited NGOs around the continent in order to see what is happening on the front line. Please do send me any information about work you know of in Africa. If you are an NGO member in one of these countries, please tell me more about that.
I believe that not enough change can be achieved unless we work in both the political arena as well as in NGOs. Existing politicians are only too glad for us to spend our energy on "projects" as long as we don't threaten their jobs by taking votes from them at the ballot box. So many politicians provide money for good projects but then contradict the good work of the project in some other way. It is essential that we work both in NGOs AND in the political arena.
