Over Mij

I am a young mixed race, Anishnawbe kwe, born and raised in Toronto. I have been working to understand the ways colonization has affected my mind, body, and spirit, and have committed to uprooting these things through self reflective thought and action.

I am re-parenting myself to be able to live ethically in this world. I am learning to talk, confront, scream, say no, set boundaries, love, heal, build myself, my family, my community, and my Indigenous nation.

I am working with the Traditional teachers, Healers, Medicine people, Elders and youth from my communtiy to decolonize. We are working to recover our language, teachings, knowledges, ceremonies, connection to the land and to all of Creation.

The most important thing I am trying to remember is piimaatsiiwiin, to live in a good way, the way we were all intended to live. To understand the ways we have been ravaged by colonization, to develop the honesty and integrity we need in order to surive and thrive.
