About Me |
I am founder member and the coordinator of Kumekucha Youth Group. As a youth entrepreneur and a social activist who believes in words and actions. Together with other youths from Eastlands part of Nairobi we initiated Kumekucha Youth Group which advocates for youth action and voice in development through provision of micro credit facilities to the youths, operating a resource center and information point, creating linkages among the local youth, government, development partner, civil society and the private sector. As a pioneer of change mover the youth community resource centre(operated at Kumekucha Youth Group) provides basic ICT knowledge to local youths, offer library services, offer entrepreneurial trainings and initiated micro finance scheme that build youths capacity to start their own income generating activities.
I hold a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science and Literature from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Political Science at the University of Nairobi. Being an experienced trainer, researcher, administrator and expert in youth issues, I have organized and conducted training workshops locally for youth and young women.
Currently am the Assistant Country Coordinator of YES KENYA Network and is actively involved in the preparations for the YES KENYA 2006 summit and works at the Summit Secretariat.
Am also the Nairobi province youth representative in the national steering committe on Youth Policy in Kenya.
I believe in gender equity and inclusion of the youth in development process. This passion has led me to spearhead an a local arts group that aims at using arts approached to community development with special emphasis on mainstreaming gender in all aspects of community development.
A member of local and international youth and women organizations/networks that advocate for reforms and inclusion of the youth and women in development process. I am a member of the League of Kenyan Women Voters, Youth Employment Summit, alumni of the Uongozi East Africa Leadership School and an Artemisia Fellow.
