My full name is Hillary Muyanzi. I am a Kenyan, a country sandwiched by three other countries that you can locate on the map of East Africa. My second name is Muyanzi because it is a clan name which means happiness. I come from the capital city of Kenya [Nairobi] and live in one of the developing slums of Nairobi. The food I like best is fried plantain and cooked beans.
My first spoken language is Luhya, followed by Swahili, English (the official working language) and a little French. I am 5 ft. "9" inch tall and my skin tone is brown. I hold a Diploma in Information Technology from Unity College of Professional Studies. My computer literacy skills include knowledge in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Power Point, Internet Explorer, MS-DOS, Windows '95, '98, & '2000, MS-Publisher, MS-PageMaker and MS-Quickbooks.
I have worked as an IT tutor for three months as my internship, also as a system administrator for 2 years After my graduation from the college in 2006, I have also served as a Youth Assistant, also served in Hospitality and the Foot ball coach at Nairobi Emmanuel Church and I look forward to more opportunities for interacting with young people from other cultures in the days ahead.
My greatest challenge is how I can create capacity at dealing with the deepening marginalization and deprivation pushing my fellow youth in this part of my country to the fringes of human survival due to widespread ignorance, illiteracy, disease and poverty.
