About Me   About Me
I am a journalist working full time with an online news magazine that reports on Human Rights,Health and Social Issues.I was born in Liberia, west Africa, grew up there but live and work in the United States.I would like to discuss matters relating to politics,Human Rights and Social issues affecting the lives of people in Liberia,Africa and the rest of the world.Although I am now resident in North America,my heart is still there in Africa.I want to continue to make the impact here in America that I made in Liberia and Ghana in West Africa during the course of my nine-year non-professional journalism career. When refugee issues were of core concern to international refugee agencies globally,we took the lead in Ghana by publishing an eight-page human rights newspaper that bridged the communication gap between the host Ghanaian community and that of the Liberian refugee community.I co-founded that newspaper,The Vision, that exposed the gross human rights violations that were meted against refugees in a refugee camp called Buduburam and another called Krisan refugee camp. When the local Ghanaian media decided to under-report or never-report about such critical issues as women and refugee rights in Ghana,we did.No wonder the UNHCR made special reference to our work as a means of empowering refugee youth even though we never got any financial assistance from UNHCR to run the newspaper. We did it without money to print the newspaper yet we distributed copies to refugees,Ghanaian government officials and foreign embassies accredited near Accra,Ghana, free of charge.Reporting by that newspaper led refugee leadership to resign due to corruption that was investigated and exposed by the paper.Reporting by that paper led UNHCR to free 25 young Liberian youth that were arbitrarily arrested and incarcerated by the Ghanaian government. That was then. Now as we live and work here in the U.S,we publish another, this time round,an online news magazine that still reports on refugee, human rights and other social issues that matter most of Liberians and Africans.Visit us at http://newliberian.com.As a current student of Mass Communication and Political Science,I feel and believe that the world needs more involvement of young people even in governance nowadays than it did some decades ago.Without the active involvement of young folks in matters that affect their lives and those of the others, there will always be conflicts in sectors of society as ever. Therefore, world leaders need to pay special heed to what young folks have to say and how they can also help change this world through many ways not conventional at all to current world leaders.I lived in Ghana for six years as a refugee.Prior to that,I lived and worked in my home town of Harbel,Liberia with a community radio station,Stone F.M.106 as Talk show host,Director of Programmes and newscaster, but, like many Liberians, I had to flee for my life .I have many years of non-professional experience in journalism.Three in radio, five in print and now in online news.I believe that after graduating from the University with double majors in Mass Communication and Political Science,I will have the professional knowledgeable background to continue to serve my nation,my new home inn North America and the rest of the world. So join me!
