I have serve series of youth organizations as a part time volunteer before being subsequently elected as the Speaker of the National Youth Parliament. The position, I still hold. The National Youth Parliament is a youth network of seven divisional or regional Youth Parliaments working in the area of Human Right, Child Rights, Gender, Hiv/Aids, Good Governance, Adolescent-Youth Reproductive Health and Youth Leadership and Management. The over role objective of the NYP is to enhance the participation of young people in the decision making process especially on issues that affect their life.
I have acquired a Diploma in journalism from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania through distance learning using the Internet coordinated by African Virtual University based in Nairobi, Kenya. I have also attended many training on Hiv/Aids, Reproductive Health, Youth Leadership, Peer Health Education, Home Based Care for the chronically ill patients, Child Right and Sexual Abuse, Exploration and Trafficking of children.
I am also a member of the National Youth Commission of the Gambia Red Cross Society as the Information Education and Communication sub committee Chairperson.
I have served as the Secretary General to the Western Division Youth Committee till February 2006 when my term came to an end.
I am affiliated to the Youth with a Vision, a national youth organisation. I am still offering technical support to the group. I initiated the Girls Platform, a unique initiative of the group that is currently expanding in advocating for the welfare of girls and providing them with trainings and information on Gender, Child Right and Adolescent Reproductive Health in General.
I am still committed to promoting the positive development of young people. This I regard as prerequisite for their effective participation in national development.
