About Me |
I am a youth activist of beautiful Himalayan Country in South-Asia, Nepal .I started my early days of activism with a well-known organization of Nepal – Family Planning Association of Nepal where I worked from 2003 as a Sub – committee member. My responsibilities were to educate my peers on the issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Through the same organization's initiative, I together with my friends started a Youth Information Center to disseminate information through various youth friendly initiatives. In my early days of life, through the center, I developed many qualities in life along with leadership skills. Along with the center, I volunteered for some other organizations like Mountain Resource Management Group, Social Awareness Development Group on the same issues together with Life Skills. Life Skills is a group of ten useful skills promoted by UNICEF which help young people to be rational in life being able to cope and control emotions in life. Through life skills, one can enjoy a good life without harming other people.
In Kathmandu, since 2008, I worked with SMERC, an educational research center as a Research Associate. With SMERC, I learned various professional skills. In Oct. 2010, I was nominated as one of the panelists for UN Youth Advisory Panel. Being a Panelist, I added value to my work that I have been doing for years. I represented Nepalese youths in UN framework assessing and advising UN Country Team in Nepal for being youth-friendly. With these associations, I got involved in many other national and international youth movements voluntarily. I am still with the UNYAP as a volunteer panelist, where I voluntarily advocate for youth participation issues in UN. These associations and involvement has now given me recognition of a youth activist in the country.
Currently, I am associated with Pravasi Nepal Coordination Committee as an Organizational Development Consultant and my activism has now organized with UNYAP and National Youth Federation of Nepal (NYFN) as a co-founder/ secretary. NYFN is a collaborative effort of young people of Nepal in order to have broader participation in every aspect of development for youths in Nepal hold 38.8% of total population.
