This is Mr. Ch. Bangkim a Senior Program Officer in SASO – Social Awareness Service Organisation a Peer Led organization manage by IDUs working in the field of drug use and HIV/AIDS related issues for more than a decade in the NE region especially in Manipur. I have experience in management, project formulation and designing on HIV/AIDS intervention prevention programs. I also involve in short term consultant for UNODC, AIHI (Austrian International Health Institute), Melbourne, India HIV/AIDS Alliance, Population Council through UNICEF and also other consultancy work with the other State AIDS Control Society (SACS) under different state of India specially in IDUs related issues.
I am directly involve working on the issues ranging from HIV/AIDS related stigma and discrimination, MSM, IDUs, involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS and scaling up continuum of HIV/AIDS care and support programs in the regions. Over the years experience and commitment in the issues I am really interested working with other agency , under the IDUs and Care and Support issues. Currently I am also working with EHA and UNODC as counsultant on IDU, MSM and care and support program among PLWHA in the NE regions.
Being from the drug user community working in the issues, I believed that it will be a great opportunity for me to work further with various agencies in order to curb the HIV/AIDS epidemic among the IDUs in the NE state of India.
