 About Me |
Brenda Boyer is the Kutztown Senior High Librarian and KAHS Technology coach. Kutztown has been a one-to-one school for 3 years. In this environment, I have collaborated with our faculty to integrate new technology and information literacy skills with content areas. Many projects have come from this collaborative environment. One example is our 9th grade immigration imovie. The history teacher covers the related content, the computer applications teacher covers the workings of imovie, and the librarian covers the research which incorporates everything from traditional print (primary sources, photos, diaries, etc. ) to online databases, free websites, films, etc. The students gather all facts, photos, personal accounts, etc and produce an individual imovie about their immigrant group.
"Resource coordinator" is a capacity served by librarians. I see the "technology coach" as an extension of my existing resource sharing duties.
In this capacity, I have presented many inservice workshops on information literacy topics, and am currently a PDE-trained presenter on Assessment (Office of Commonwealth Libraries).
The faculty of Kutztown High School is very "tech-literate" and open to new concepts. I look forward to the resource sharing that will develop from networking with other schools.
